While the world is talking about entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial skills, entrepreneurship boom, and alike phenomenon, the dust hasn’t yet settled on what essentially entrepreneurship is. Is it a drive that comes from inside, or is it a stream in academics that can be taught using definitions and models?

Or is entrepreneurship all about innovation, a revolutionary idea whose execution would disrupt prevailing market norms and set the ground for transition into a changed world?

Many aspiring start-up founders believe that launching a new venture would bestow on them the title of being an entrepreneur. In common parlance, this may hold true, but the real test of entrepreneurship is a bit harder.

In very simple yet convincing terms, entrepreneurship can be defined as a sum of any individual’s capacity to invent, execute and run a venture. This definition will not only embrace words like startup, Information Technology, but can involve works even in the fields of agriculture, trade, marketing, or any other commercial assignment.

Let us not then confine this golden word in the boundaries of startups, websites, mobile applications, digital wallets, social media and alike.

Entrepreneurship, on the contrary, is a culmination of labours that encompassed breaking norms, overcoming hardships, accepting criticisms and facing the wrath of detractors.

Second to none when we talk of entrepreneurial attributes is the ability to think differently, in one word, that means freshness. Change is inevitable and the way we live our lives, socially as well as financially, revolutionizes every passing minute.

And that breaking of obsolete customs comes from brains that can comprehend needs and exploit the opportunities.

Why then take a shorter route and categorize ourselves as aspiring entrepreneurs when we know that the venture we are working on hardly involves improvement over existing st andards? Entrepreneurship, dear people, is the genesis of improvement. Incorporate one such feature in your endeavor that can justify its brilliance over other similar projects.

Let’s not fake entrepreneurship, let’s rationalize it rather.
