As a teenager, one shouldn’t bother about making money. These years of teenage shape your entire life and one must stress on gaining knowledge during this period rather than being ambitious to earn money. This thought flows from the notion that earning knowledge prior to embarking on any mission easesone’s journey and yieldsfavorable outcomes. Nevertheless, it is equally important to manage the money you receive from your guardians and here we shall discuss some key areas a teenager should focus on.

One, ditch that thought of increasing the money you have in hand, for that may take you to unknown, and most often than not, unsafe routes. Most teenagers today are active on internet and many have profiles created on social media. Internet has become a safe zone for criminals that lure visitors on the pretext of selling a product/ service or helping multiplythe money through easy ways. Most of these adverts are unscrupulous and targeted at teenagers who are vulnerable and least suspecting fraud. Adequately verifying the authenticity or simply avoiding these ads is the way out.

Two, save money. Yes, do that even when you know your guardians are capable to pull you out of any unforeseen circumstances.Developing a practice of spending only a portion of what you own will only make you a richer person in your later days. Reckless spending when with friends so as to influence classmates or neighborhood friends would result in times when you are completely out of cash on many occasions, thus a dependent member of your group.

Three, help your friends only when they are in dire need. Teenagers usually are tempted towards consumerism and the age of internet has augmented desires. Not all your friends will be financially disciplined and hence may be spending more than what is judicious. You would come across friends asking for credit and this is where prudence, not emotions, must come into play. Overlook the idiom ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’ at this point in time and act wisely. Consider the proposal by evaluating the creditworthiness and repaying capacity and will of your friend.

Four, never curse your parents or guardians if your friends are handed over more money than you as weekly out lays by their parents. You are now old enough to understand that different households have dissimilar sources of income and disparity in family income is deep-rooted in our society. As a teenager, manage with the resources that you have at your disposal. The want for more will mount pressure on your parents and the family bonding may take a hit. At this age, you can choose to look at people who have lesser resources available with them as compared to you and they still defy the odds, this shall make you content.

Most people recall the fond memories of their teenage years when resources are limited and still joy and contentment see no limitations. It’s up to you to manage limited resources wisely and find your share of joy.
